Book Review All The Light We Cannot See by Anthony Doerr

The Carat and the Ick. Anthony Doerr's novel All the Light We Cannot See stormed the literary world in 2014, selling more than 15 million copies and winning a Pulitzer Prize. It's a curious blend of gripping narrative, scientific wonkiness and deep, rich lyricism. And it became one of my favorite books from the last several years.

At first glance, All the Light We Cannot See seems to be the poster child for book groups and best read lists, but the hype is well-deserved. All the Light We Cannot See is a rare gem among WWII novels, and not only because it features a gem. All the Light We Cannot See

5/5: Really incredible book, I could not put down. I typically don't jump to read holocaust books but this one was a story I didn't know anything about. War is tragic, bleak and traumatizing and Werner is unsure if he'll ever see a 'light' again. The descriptions in this novel are outstanding and it makes you feel as if you've experiencing what's happening in the novel. I'm in awe of writers who can compose a book of a long ago era and it make it feel so real.
